Hey everyone! Well we’ve officially ended our study of Gravity and Gladness! This is the third time I’ve watch this teaching, and I’m still pulling from it!

Blessed to have all of you in. Get ready to take off! We’re about to really get into the thick of it now, and I am excited!

Here’s your homework for the week:

  1. Meet up with your partner and before your prayer time, discuss what God has been teaching you through these last 5 weeks. Both of you then reply in the comment section on what you have learned. It will be great to see what God is already stirring among us. Make sure to check out the prayer requests tab above this post to know how to specifically pray for the group.
  2. Remember to bring walking shoes and warm clothes next week. FIELD TRIP! Please post in comments section of this post if you can drive next week…

  2. Cake Says:

I can drive! I can fit 5 in my truck with a tight squeeze.

  3. Jillian Says:

I can drive and can fit 5, including me.

Also – God has been teaching me patience, as well as how to be strong and run to Him in my life. :)

  4. Ted Says:

I can drive. got a wagon

  5. Mark Says:

I think I wanna roll with Ted and his wagon.

  6. Jeremaih Cooney Says:

Through the Piper series God has again reminded me of the importance of living a worshipful life that brings glory to him. Because, worshiping God and finding all our satisfaction in Him is the best way to give Him glory.!

    -Jeremiah

  7. Portia Says:

I am reminded of Psalm 139:13-16 when I think of ultimate satisfaction in Him. My entire being is expressly designed to give worship, praise and glory to God. Living my life in a way that glorifies God means He can use me to draw others to Him. People stop seeing ‘me’ – they, instead, see contentment in the face of adversity; joy in the face of trial; peace in the face of turmoil. People will ultimately see Jesus. And when this happens, God is even more glorified and I am even more satisfied.

  8. Luke Says:

What I learned through this series is that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. That it isn’t wrong to feel good when worshiping God, but that he actually wants us to have an amazing experience when we worship him with our lives and that’s when he gets the most glory.

  9. Robert Says:

I have been reminded thought this series, again, that the goal is not to create fantastic, well-polished music; but perfect, well-polished sacrifices to our King. I constantly struggle with enjoying worship because of the music and not because of what Jesus has done for us. Worshiping the creation (music) and not the Creator (Jesus) will be a struggle that I, and many musicians, will fight through for the rest of my life.

  10. Theo Says:

I was reminded that we are to have a spirit of great expectation when we worship God, both privately and corporately. Also, the only only reason why we can pursue, go hard, and strive after God is because He(Jesus) initiated the pursuing, the striving and the loving. We must not get the order mixed up!

  11. Paul Says:

God is constantly teaching me the value of community, the beauty of diversity, and the centrality of Worship in my life. After watching Gravity and Gladness for the third time now, the main thing that has stuck out to me this time: true joy, true authentic passionate gladness, comes from a real, biblical, sincere, understanding of God. True repentance leads to real joy.

  12. Karina Says:

God has blessed me with a conviction to take corporate and solo worship much more seriously. I often feel that “church” is an obligatory check box that I need to fill each week. I should look at it as an incredible opportunity to be radically God-centered for one whole day, part of which I get to spend an hour worshiping with God’s people. This study has helped me to identify a deficiency in my mindset, and I pray that God lights a passionate fire for Him so that I am excited to spend my Sabbath with Him.

  13. Josh O Says:

I’ve been learning about what it is to be truly satisfied in God. I’d been struggling with it before this study started, so having a pinpoint on it has really helped.

That’s also my biggest prayer request, to be satisfied in God and where he has me, not where I want to be.

I can drive, but my car is a tiny mess. It’ll seat 5 with squeezing.

  14. Daniel Says:

I am constantly reminded that God does not want me to make plans for my life as if I know what is best for me. Trust God- take what he gives me thankfully but do not put my trust into it.

  15. Dominic Says:

Throughout the series I’m constantly reminded that the more I feel like I have to do during our time of leading musical worship, the more my heart is drawn to itself and away from God. While there is an aspect of undistracting musicianship, God will do the hard work for us when we lead, we just have to learn how to approach him with humility when we are “leading”.

  16. Kelly Says:

I learned how to better express the necessity of worship (both mine personally, and ours corporately). I think J.Piper profoundly describes why worshiping our God, and glorifying Him is really our primary-if not only-purpose. The section about God being most pleased when He is glorified blew my mind. Loved, loved, loved this book. It will always stand out as a favorite for me!

  17. Josh S. Says:

I’ve learned that i need to worship god whole heartly and be passionate in worship as well as just having a better understanding of why we worship god both biblically and corporate of how churches are run and how they worship

  18. Maribel Says:

As of late I’ve been learning how much corporate worship is important to me and how the Church is so necessary for my growth and spiritual health. I’ve experienced a Sunday morning missing first service and going to Omega during second hour to be with my senior girls, and then feeling like I did not get enough from my morning because I missed corporate worship. One might want to call it just a routine but it’s more than just feeling off because something habitual was not done, it is actually missing that deep connection being with the family to worship our heavenly Father.

  19. Shannon Says:

Through Gravity and Gladness I have gained a better understanding of worship and what it means to be satisfied in God during worship. I didn’t realize just how much there is to learn about worship until this book. Ive also been learning a lot about time management which is awesome!

  20. Amanda Says:

Something that I’ve learned through Gravity and Gladness, and through what God has been teaching me in my life recently, is to be most satisfied in Him. In corporate worship, and in just my daily life. Being most satisfied in Him brings Him the most glory.

  21. Tyler Says:

I have learned much about worship through G&G and the fact that joy naturally overflows into praise and worship. God has also been teaching me patience and that His way and His plan is far better than mine.

  22. Ryan Says:

Through reading Gravity and Gladness I have learned a lot about gathering together in corporate worship. Piper says that we need private worship AND corporate worship to glorify God to the highest degree. I have also learned that while a someone like a pastor is preaching/teaching they are worshiping because without that worship they are just standing up there wasting breath. In conclusion, I have a far greater understanding of private and corporate and how to put them into practice.

  23. Mark Says:

God has been giving me my desires.. which is Him. I’ve found real joy and contentment in God through His Son Jesus. It’s really amazing and that bleeds out to the way I worship Him both privately and corporately.

  24. Jazze Says:

God has been teaching me not to hold back in worship, and that joy naturally leads to praise. :)
